Help for Rescue Dogs
It's like magic! My first foster dog was enrolled in Dawn's basic manners class. It took me a little while to pick up on the "new for me" techniques and philosophy of Dawn's positive dog training. Of course the dog knew just what to do once I gave him the right cues and motivation. Three classes into basic manners the foster dog was adopted and his new owner finished out the course.
I'm now fostering three 10 wk old pups and use Dawn's techniques with great success. It's fun to see the "ah ha" moment when they "get it".
Looking forward to getting back into the classroom with Dawn. Her classes are engaging and on point. She obviously loves what she does.

Virtual Lessons
We started earlier this year with a rescue foster dog from HIHS. Then we got another. Then the lock down happened. We knew we needed socialization for the puppy and some work with the older one too. Dawn was recommended by two friends after we had tried another trainer that wasn't a good match for us. Even though our consultation was via Zoom, Dawn took copious time to explain and ask pointed questions to zero in on the areas we wanted to work with the dogs. She gave valuable insight into each dog's behaviors and took time to explain what were our obstacles, how to modify training to fit each dog and suggest training strategies. Plus she sent follow up emails with links to topics we discussed. Dawn's knowledge of dog behaviors, current training techniques and the ability to customize training to individual situations makes her a perfect match for her career choice. Online training classes are are a challenge in good times. Dawn gave us a solid base with which to build strong positive behaviors in our two rescues. We are excited and looking forward to continue this relationship with face to face classes on the other side of this pandemic.

Dawn is an EXCELLENT trainer and a TRULY caring person. She not only helps you learn how to train your dog , but she trains you how to behave with your dog. I have a BORDER COLLIE that is very sweet, but being a Border Collie, she is also a wild child. I Have taken my dog to classes in Marin County California and have had some one on one training there. But no other trainer EVER taught me as much as Dawn has ! In Marin County I have a dog walking business. Very Recently I sp...ent 10 months on the BIG ISLAND and was fortunate enough to find Dawn, who has taught me SO MUCH about how my behavior affects not only my Border Collie , but also all the dogs in my pack that I take hiking ! Now being back in Marin and hiking daily with my pack , all the other dog walkers are amazed at how well my Border Collie is behaving and all the other dogs are too ! Sometimes 3 of us dog walkers hike together and have 20 DOGS, all OFF LEASH with us. There is never any quarreling amoung the dogs . I now know how my behavior affects my dog , who in turn affects all the other dogs. ! What a TRUE GIFT Dawn has been in my life ! If you want a WELL BEHAVED dog and a PEACEFUL co-existence with your dog , DAWN is the BEST . I am so VERY GRATEFUL I found her !!!!! Mary L. |

She is a phenomenal dog trainer. I would highly recommend hiring her if your dog has any kind of behavioral issues or if you just want help with some obedience training. She is incredibly kind, patient and diligent. Dawn is a great teacher (to both dogs and humans) and her genuine enthusiasm for positive reinforcement training is contagious. I really appreciated her ability to skillfully guide each training session. You can tell she has years of animal training experience under her belt. 10/10. Cori C.
