Dawn has been an animal lover from the very beginning. After high school she was one of 50 students accepted into the Exotic Animal Training and Management Program at Moorpark College in California. Dawn was able to work with a variety of animals and fell in love with training and teaching people about the animals in our world. She taught educational programs for 6 years after she graduated. During this time she raised and trained wolves, raccoons, opossums, parrots, pigs, a coyote and more. Dawn also worked as a dog trainer, teaching group lessons and private training all across Los Angeles and surrounding areas. She became a regional training manager for a large dog training company and was responsible for overseeing and training over 75 trainers in 9 states for 10 years before moving to Tennessee.
In TN Dawn was offered a job at The Comedy Barn Theater to adopt and perform a trick show with rescue dogs. This is where the Comedy Canines were started. For 12 years Dawn worked with rescues all over to adopt dogs and train them fun and entertaining tricks.
She not only did nightly shows, but reached out in the community to do fund raisers, school and library shows and educate on the importance of being a responsible pet owner and bite prevention for all ages. Dawn also started working as a wrangler. Many of the dogs have been seen on commercials, ads, and even some movies. She was featured in a segment on Animal Planet's Dogs 101 and Pet Star for 2 seasons, in National Geographic Kids magazine, Farmer's Almanac, David Letterman and more! Even her home life went to the dogs, as she ran a doggy day care and boarding facility at her home.
In 2013 she moved to the Big Island of Hawaii to work on building her family's dream home. She has fine tuned her certifications and business to offer behavior modification as her main service. Dawn has an in home training service as well as offering group classes and seminars.
Over the years Dawn has worked with thousands of dogs and their owners, taught at Camp Gone to the Dogs, organized volunteer training workshops, and mentored new trainers. She believes in continuing education and stays current through books, webinars and professional trainer organizations.
Dawn is committed to teaching people to have a positive relationship with their pets.

My "heart dog". That one special dog we get that touches our lives like no other. He not only enriched my life but entertained and educated so many others in his career. From a scared shelter dog from NYC to a super star of stage, magazines, and tv. His antics always stole the show. He taught me so much and was there for me through so many ups and downs of my life. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him. Rest in Peace my boy!
